Shocking won the race; style won the fashions

Madden brothers Joel and Benji

While the Melbourne Cup might be the race that stops a nation, a time for punters to either win big or lose big, it is most definitely an occasion which brings out the fashion critic in all of us, scoping out the talent of fashionably-dressed race-goers.

APL Photography’s coverage of the Spring Racing Carnival continues to satisfy, with another day in the Birdcage and around the field, capturing the famous and fashionable.

Madden brothers Joel and Benji were snapped, adding rocker-vogue to their race ensemble. Watermelon splashed the frock scene in various shades, worn by Tiffani Wood and Rebecca Twigley. Rachel Finch kept it modest and classic in a below-the-knee, antique-white number, while Olivia Newton-John teamed pearls with delicate, lace gloves. Laura Dundovic was spotted, and Sara Groen was the Lady in red. Sophie Monk unleashed her wild side in a leopard-inspired navy, mini, with navy also appearing on Esther Anderson and Zara Phillips.

Grey suits were popular amongst the lads, and fascinators were aplenty, along with fake tans and sunglasses, which make everyone look fashionably chic and good looking. APL Photography also managed to snap up other prolific individuals, such as Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, Ricki-Lee Coulter and Rhys Uhlich, all suited up and spectacular.

The Melbourne Cup never seems to disappoint, in winners on and off the racing field, and you can be sure Anthony Licuria – APL Photography will always be there to capture the action.
