Fairytale Beginnings

Who said Wonderland was only for Alice? L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Opening Party at Government House had a fairytale start to this week’s fashion festivities, adorned with a castle and ballet dancers for entertainment.

APL Photography attended the invitation-only event capturing the celebrities who were there and the style and fashion on offer

Presented by L’Oréal Paris and supported by Champagne Devaux and Harper’s BAZAAR, the Opening Party played host to industry leaders, A-list celebrities and Australia’s finest fashion talent, whilst celebrating the success of the Australian fashion industry.

A fairy castle set and a modern fairytale script of eight stories, complemented eight custom created outfits from Australia’s leading designers:

  1. Alive in Wonderland – designed by Collette Dinnigan
  2. Mini Mouse – designed by sass & bide
  3. Beauty & the Beast – designed by Tina Kalivas
  4. Cinderella – designed by Willow
  5. Snow White – designed by Dion Le
  6. Fantasia – designed by Michelle Jank
  7. Ali Baba & the 40 Thieves – designed by Akira
  8. 101 Dalmatians – designed by Romance Was Born

According to Festival Director Karen Webster, the “LMFF Opening Party brings together the very best in fashion, the people who make our industry, the moments that inspire excellence and the atmosphere of excitement and creativity that propels fashion forward.”

Amongst the celebrities, Anthony snapped up Brodie Harper, Laura Dundovic, Rebecca Twigley and Natalie Bassingthwaighte. LMFF Designer Award finalist Dion Lee also posed for the APL lens, and Anthony also snapped up designer Fernando Frisoni, who has recently joined the Myer stable of Australian designers.

While we can’t always trust that Disney’s fairytale endings will happen to us, we can expect LMFF to showcase the season’s hottest trends for our own fashionable romance, with APL Photography capturing every bit of this fashionable fairytale.
